      The first semifinal of the corporate insurance arbitration tournament organized by us has ended. According to the arbitrators’ decision, the team of Petrol Chilikov law firm has won the moot court.

      Our company continues to conduct insurance moot courts (simulated court disputes), and now we are organizing a tournament involving four legal teams, which represent Egorov, Puginsky, Afanasiev & Partners (EPAM), ALRUD, VEGAS LEX and Petrol Chilikovlaw firms. The tournament will consist of two semi-finals and the final, which will be held in December.

      The first semifinal will take place on 25 May, 2021, where the teams of EPAM and Petrol Chilikov will be the contesting parties.

      Sergey Bukreyev, KLR Executive Director, will act as a court reporter and moderator.

      The first semifinal will be arbitrated by:

      • Irina Alpatova, Deputy General Director of Alfainsurance;

      Trendspotting: trends in corporate insurance and loss settlement in 2019-2020.

      A closing event of 2019 hosted by JSC KLR, JSC IC Allianz and JSC Marsh – Insurance Brokers took place on 05 December 2019.

      Andrey Denisov, General Director of Marsh – Insurance Brokers, delivered welcoming remarks and Elena Ozerova, Head of Corporate Underwriting at Allianz, gave a talk to the audience on the trends in corporate insurance in Russia and worldwide. In concluding the conference, Sergey Bukreyev, Chief Operating Officer at KLR, gave a presentation on “Evolution of loss adjusters. The origin of species by means of competitive selection, or the preservation of favoured experts in the struggle for a client”.

      KLR has hosted one of the sessions of the 6th Annual Insurance Business Forum "Challenges of the Year 2019" in Sochi.

      Rashid Sakhapov (Marsh-Insurance Brokers), Vladislav Timofeev (RNRC), Victor Petrov (Vegas lex) jointly with Sergey Bukreyev (KLR Executive Director) examined several relevant case studies on business interruption losses.       On 17.09.2019 KLR will organize the second arbitration moot jointly with VEGAS LEX and Petrol Chilikov where they will simulate a dispute on the recognition of a loss as an insured event and the reimbursement for actual damage and business interruption loss.

      This event will be opened by presentations given by Andrey Gorlenko, Executive Administrator at the Russian Arbitration Center, Leonid Zubarev, Senior Partner at CMS, Russia, and Sergey Bukreyev, KLR Executive Director. In these presentations, the authors will consider the commercial arbitration and the benefits it provides for settling insurance disputes.

      VEGAS LEX and Petrol Chilikov will represent the legal interests of the parties to dispute, while KLR and Deloitte will represent their financial interests.

      KLR has held the first arbitration moot (Trialspotting) jointly with VEGAS LEX and Petrol Chilikov, where they simulated a court dispute on the reimbursement for business interruption loss.

      MDD forensic accountants acted as an opponent of KLR in the financial issues.

      Nikolay Galushin, RNRC Chief Executive, Irina Alpatova, Deputy General Director of Alfainsurance, and Andrey Gorlenko, Executive Administrator at the Russian Arbitration Center, acted as arbitrators in the dispute.

      Mikhail Vasiliev, Head of Claims Department at Willis CIS, acted as a moderator in the “court hearing”.
